Lost Wax Casting
Lost Wax Casting
The principle of Chinese lost-wax casting technology originated from the incineration method, which was first seen in the middle and late Shang Dynasty. This technology gradually disappeared after the appearance of the non-model line lost-wax method.
The lost wax method is a precision casting method for metal objects such as bronze.
The method is to use beeswax to make a casting model, and then use other refractory materials (mostly sand molds) to fill the mud core and form the outer model. After heating and baking, all the wax patterns are melted and lost, so that the entire casting model becomes an empty shell. Then pour molten metal into it, and then cast it into utensils.
advantage:
1. High dimensional accuracy and good finish
The dimensional accuracy is best up to 5% of the nominal size, and the roughness level is Ra0.8-3.2μm, which greatly reduces the workload of subsequent machining.
2. The mechanical properties of castings are superior, and the molding cost is low
3. Wide range of material adaptability
4. Excellent production flexibility. Ideal for high-volume, small-batch or even single-piece production.
