What is a mortar wall?
I. Definition and structural positioning of the mortar wall
The mortar wall is the core wear-resistant component in the cone crusher, also known as the “fixed cone liner”. It is installed on the inner wall of the fixed cone (fixed cone) of the crusher. It is annular or curved, and forms a crushing chamber with the “crushing wall” (moving cone liner) on the moving cone. Its surface is usually designed with uneven corrugated or toothed structures to enhance the extrusion and grinding effect on the ore.
II. Specific role in the crusher
Core crushing function
When the crusher is working, the moving cone rotates eccentrically around the axis of the fixed cone. After the ore enters the crushing chamber, it will be crushed by the extrusion, impact and grinding between the mortar wall and the crushing wall.
The curved surface structure of the mortar wall guides the ore to move downward, and at the same time, the ore particle size is gradually reduced through repeated extrusion until it is discharged from the bottom.
Wear-resistant and impact-resistant protection
The ore crushing process will generate strong impact and friction. As a component that directly contacts the ore, the mortar wall needs to withstand high-load wear. Its wear-resistant materials (such as high manganese steel and high chromium cast iron) can effectively extend the service life and reduce the frequency of equipment maintenance.
Control the crushing particle size
The gap between the mortar wall and the crushing wall (i.e. the size of the discharge port of the crushing chamber) determines the particle size of the final product. By adjusting the installation position of the mortar wall or replacing lining plates of different specifications, the coarseness and fineness of the crushed product can be controlled to meet different process requirements.
III. Typical application scenarios
Mortar walls are widely used in the crushing process of mining, metallurgy, construction aggregates and other industries, especially for processing granite, iron ore, basalt and other ores with higher hardness. For example:
In the open-pit mine crushing production line, the cone crusher with the mortar wall can crush large pieces of ore into medium particle size to prepare for the subsequent grinding process;
In the production of construction sand and gravel, crushed stone aggregates of different specifications can be produced by adjusting the mortar wall parameters.
